It is characterized by high chemical purity and stable granulometric composition. Corresponds to GOST 22551-77 “Quartz sand, ground sandstone, quartzite and vein quartz for the glass industry.”
Depending on the chemical composition, sand is classified into grades, which have a letter designation and purpose:
OOVS - especially critical products with high translucency;
OVS - responsible products with high translucency;
BC - products with high translucency;
C - translucent products;
B - colorless products;
PB - semi-white products;
PS - products with reduced translucency;
T - dark green glass.
