240B-1318010M Fan drive (analogue of fluid coupling)

The proposed fan drive, developed at the Yaroslavl Motor Plant, is intended for installation on the YaMZ 240BM engine instead of the 240B-1318010 fan drive fluid coupling, which has been discontinued. The fan drive is completely unified with the fan drive fluid coupling. The design of the proposed fan drive is simple and reliable in operation and consists of a fixed drive axis on which a rotating bearing housing is mounted on bearings. On the outer surface of the housing there are 5 grooves for the drive belts of the fan, generator and pneumatic compressor. Rotation from the crankshaft pulley is transmitted to the bearing housing and then through the bearing housing cover, which is also the hub of the fan impeller, to the fan impeller. The drive housing is secured with 4 M14 bolts to the cylinder block at the standard mounting points of the fluid coupling housing. On the body, similar to the fluid coupling body, there are flanges for installing a mounting bracket for the generator, pneumatic compressor and tensioner. The drive design uses bearings with a one-sided seal. The cavity between the bearings is filled during assembly with Litol-24 lubricant. A lubricator is installed on the drive cover. Before installation on the engine, it is necessary to inject the drive, subsequent injection should be carried out after 100 engine hours. Warranty period: 12 months.
